Food Justice Roles
All of these roles have variable time and responsibility commitments, which can be as low as an hour per month to multiple hours per month based on your desires and availability.
Land provider
This is a role for folks that own some land or have land they are willing to provide to the Spokane Food Justice Project for things like cultivating crops or raising animals (chickens, goats, quail, rabbits). You get to choose what works for you!
Animal Caretaker
This role is for folks that want to be involved in the care, feeding, and cleaning of animals.
Crop Caretaker
This role is for folks that want to plant, weed, monitor, and harvest crops.
Recycler/Composter
This role is for someone who is interested in taking byproducts from the farming process
Administrative
This is a role for folks that want to help keep this project rolling forward and are interested in data collection and analysis and/or who what to support writing newsletters, informational copy, and the like and/or who wants to organize meetings and wrangle people to work together. If when someone asks "Who will do the dishes after the revolution?" You say, "I will, obviously." Then this might be up your alley.
Butcher/Animal Processor
This role is what it says on the tin. Show up, process animals, enable meat to the people.
Crop Processor
This role is for processing crops after harvest: drying/dehydrating, washing, canning, salsa-ing, whatever the vibe is, you’ll learn to match it! If you want Summer Peaches in January, this just might be the role for you.
